The Deb Bliss-Mickeliunas Memorial scholarship was established in 2014 by Bernie Sedlacek. This scholarship will assist students in the Applied Technology Programs.
Deb worked at Metropolitan Community College for over 30 years, with the last several years as an Academic Advisor. She raised a son and daughter who later took classes and got degrees from Metropolitan Community College. Bernie writes: “I met Deb later in life, but the years that I knew Deb were some of the best years of my life. Her zest for life was contagious to all she encountered.”
Having worked most of her life in education it would be an understatement to say Deb “loved education." She loved to inspire and craft young minds and guide them into a world of possibilities. She believed in her students. She believed in the power of knowledge and learning and achieving your highest potential. She was a mentor, a coach, a pep-talk provider, a friend and a mom to all she met in life.
Scholarships are usually offered during the spring and fall quarters. Scholarship availability varies depending on donor giving.
