This fund was established in memory of Rex Stacy by the Nebraska Section of the American Welding Society. Rex Stacy was a member of the American Welding Society for 21 years. He served as the Technical and Education Advisor as well as the Student Chapter Advisor. He was an Instructor in Welding Technology at Metropolitan Community College for 23 years. He cared deeply about welders, welding students, and the American Welding Society. He was an advisor and inspiration to many of his students as they pursued careers in the welding field. This fund shall be used to support a student in the Welding Technology Program including high school students in Early Entry programs like the Career Academy. Scholarship may be used for tuition, fees and books.
Scholarship Criteria:
- Financial Need may be considered, but is not required
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
- Only Welding Technology Associate Degree, Certificate or Occupational Specialists Programs are eligible
Scholarships are usually offered during the spring and fall quarters. Scholarship availability varies depending on donor giving.
