Patricia Barnes Plummer was born in Beebe, Arkansas and Lance Plummer in Buffalo, New York. They met in Bellevue, Nebraska in 2001. Married in 2003, they discovered they shared an intense desire for education and wanted to help students. They became involved with Metropolitan Community College’s General Educational Development (GED) program, where they both taught mathematics, grammar, and writing to GED students at both the Elkhorn Valley and South Omaha campuses for over ten years. In addition, Patricia held several positions in the college in skills assessment, instructional design and academic resources. Mr. Plummer believes students should keep moving forward and never give up. Mr. Plummer shares his story that he failed out of community college twice, each time readmitted under strict academic probation. Upon graduation from community college, he entered the military and while on active duty, completed his Bachelor’s in Government and his Master’s in Aviation Management.
Mr. Plummer hopes all students will strive to improve themselves through more education, as education remains with each person.
