This scholarship was created by the dean of Social Sciences, faculty and staff at Metropolitan Community College to honor Beth Nimmo. Nimmo was a staff member, advisor and instructor at MCC. Scholarship may be used for tuition, fees and supplies.
Ms. Nimmo served as a staff member and advisor for the College in 1992, and later became a full-time faculty member in 2000, primarily teaching Human Relations Skills. The Human Relations Skills class was required of every student, so Ms. Nimmo had a chance to interact with a lot of people, many of whom were nontraditional students seeking second careers. She pushed her students to pursue their dreams with gusto, and helped students believe in themselves. Ms. Nimmo received her bachelor’s degree from Chadron State College and her master’s degree in Social Services from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She was president-elect of the Nebraska Counseling Association. This scholarship provides a tribute to her dedication to education and students.
