MEDIA ALERT: Manufacturing Day event at MCC Center for Advanced Manufacturing on Friday, Oct. 21 at 9 a.m.
Metropolitan Community College will host more than 60 high school students for Manufacturing Day at the South Omaha Campus. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, students will participate in hands-on activities in lab areas with MCC instructors and industry partners at the College’s state-of-the art Center for Advanced Manufacturing.
Students will move between welding, mechanical drafting and design, precision machining, robotic and electrical/mechanical stations as they explore different career paths in the industry, a source of growing employment opportunities. They can also walk through Phillips Manufacturing, a national single source manufacturer for all drywall beads and trims, channels and framing components as well as stucco accessories. According to the 2022 September jobs report, U.S. manufacturing continues to add jobs, increasing employment in the sector by nearly 500,000 over the past year. Representatives from MCC industry partner organizations will present information about career opportunities during their lunch break.
