MCC's Early Childhood Education Practicum
Mandatory DHHS and Criminal Background Checks
It is in the intent of Metropolitan Community College Early Childhood Education program to ensure adherence to Nebraska Department of Childcare Program Licensing Standards. This means before ANY student can go into any type of Early Childhood program they must complete and pass two separate checks.
They are:
-
Criminal background check/One Source.
-
The Department of Health and Human Services Nebraska Adult/Child Abuse Registry.
-
The student is responsible for checking their email for clearance on the criminal background check/OneSource. Students are responsible for printing their background report and providing a copy to appropriate agencies.
-
Students are responsible to check their MCC email to verify the clearance of their DHHS Nebraska Adult/Child Abuse Registry.
This is a mandatory process. ALL students must complete and clear for the protection of the student, children and families and Early Childhood Education programs. A nonrefundable fee of approximately $40 will be assessed to the student's MCC student account for the criminal background and registry checks.
If the student has NOT completed, submitted and cleared both the DHHS and Criminal Background forms they will not be able to participate in the required field and/or clinical experiences in the course.
Students will receive email notification including all directions for completion of the 2 checks from the Dean of Social Science's Office, Cwest1@mccneb.edu at the time of enrollment. It is the responsibility of the student to complete the document(s) and submit immediately. Students who do not receive clearance for both checks by 15 business days of the course will be unable to complete the course. Forms must be submitted no later than the first day of class.
If you have any questions or need clarification please contact Connie Galvin at 531-622-4543 or Cwest1@mccneb.edu.
