Dan Koch,  Vice President – North America Pole Operations

Dan is responsible for the establishment and execution of Valmont’s operational strategy in support of the North America ESS and Utility Divisions in order to enhance performance and profitability. In early 2017 Dan was named as Director of Operations with oversight of four Valmont Pole factories. In mid-2018 Dan was given the added responsibility for three more factories to now include aluminum manufacturing. Duties in this role encompass safety, quality, and operations.

Dan started his engineering career at Valmont in 1999 supporting cost-down initiatives with pole manufacturing plants. In 2001, Dan transitioned to a design engineering role supporting the Wind Energy effort within Valmont. From 2004 through 2008 Dan held various engineering management roles including Coatings, Wind Energy, and International Projects. He left Valmont for one year to pursue a career in wind energy and returned in 2009 in a project director role which included a greenfield startup of a coatings and pole facility in India. Dan was promoted to Operations Director for Asia Pacific in 2012 and moved to Sydney Australia. He later returned to Omaha to lead operations at Valmont’s main ESS factory in Valley, and to startup a finishing operation in Elkhart, Indiana.

Dan earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and his M.B.A. from the University of Nebraska Omaha.
