Who is Eligible for Single Parent Homemaker Services?

  • Students accepted into SRS/TRIO program
    • Single parents with full or joint custody of their minor children
    • Single pregnant women
    • Homemakers with diminished marketable skills who need to return to the workforce due to divorce, death, or disability of spouse

What Types of Services are Available?

  • Positive Opportunities for Parenting Solo: The purpose of POPS is to foster personal and educational growth through mentoring, networking, community service and lifelong relationships.
  • Agency Referrals: Advisors and counselors in SPHS assist students to locate services not available through the program.
  • Workshops/Conferences: Workshops and conferences are provided throughout the year on topics such as: résumé writing, interviewing, math anxiety, parenting, and budgeting.
  • Book Lending Program: The program loans text books to student participants who demonstrate financial need. Participant eligibility requirements are as follows
    • Must have applied and completed financial aid process
    • Must be a current and active SRS/SPH student participant
    • Must be approved by the SRS/SPH Review Committee
    • Must be enrolled for 4.5 credit hours or more
