About Student Worker Program

The student worker program helps degree-seeking students finance their education through meaningful campus employment that develops their career skills, deepens their connection to college and community, and provides them opportunities to serve as positive role models for their peers.
Positions offered through the program aim to increase students’ skills in the following career competencies established by the National Association of Colleges and Employers:
Career and Self Development, Communication, Critical Thinking,  Equity and Inclusion, TeamworkProfessionalism, Technology, Leadership.

Academic Focus Areas

Metropolitan Community College has grouped degrees and certificate programs into seven Academic Focus Ares. The Student Worker Program developed job categories to strategically align with the Academic Focus Areas. Positions through the program offer first-hand  experiences in students' chosen field to increase career preparedness and confidence entering the workforce post-graduation.

Brand Ambassador

Location: Fort Campus, Elkhorn Campus, South Omaha Campus
Pay: $15.00
Hours: Student workers can work up to 24 hours. Hours may vary by location.

  • Be knowledgeable and in support of MCC’s mission.
  • Serve as a representative for MCC and departments across assigned campuses.
  • Lead visitors through tours, one-on-one interactions, departmental events, and campus presentations.
  • Staff off-campus events.
  • Assist with in-bound and out-bound calls.

Career Community Builder

Location: Fort Campus, Elkhorn Campus, South Omaha Campus
Pay: $15.00
Hours: Student workers can work up to 24 hours. Hours may vary by location.

  • Build and manage career exploration learning opportunities.
  • Assists with student engagement events, especially career-focused events.
  • Provide support to Career Experiences Office.
  • Guide students to useful career resources around campuses.
  • Be knowledgeable and able to successfully navigate Career Coach and MCC’s Job Board.

Digital Content Associate

Location: Fort Campus, Elkhorn Campus, South Omaha Campus
Pay: $16.00
Hours: Student workers can work up to 24 hours. Hours may vary by location.

  • Develop an understanding of MCC’s Brand Standards.
  • Maintain webpages & social media.
  • Manage inventory of digital content.
  • Provide support to MCC’s Marketing Team.
  • Stay up-to-date with social media and digital marketing trends.

Peer Mentor

Location: Fort Campus, Elkhorn Campus, South Omaha Campus
Pay: $14.00
Hours: Student workers can work up to 24 hours. Hours may vary by location.

  • Serve as positive role model to students enrolled at the college
  • Provide classroom help as needed.
  • Offer assistance with developing study and time management strategies.
  • Communicate with faculty and staff regarding student academic concerns and/or progress.
  • Guide students to useful academic resources available at MCC’s campuses.

Peer Wellness Ambassador

Site Technician

Location: Fort Campus, Elkhorn Campus, South Omaha Campus
Pay: $14.00
Hours: Student workers can work up to 24 hours. Hours may vary by location.

  • Assist faculty with classroom and laboratory preparation.
  • Manage and organize classroom and laboratory inventory and ordering.
  • Conduct quarterly classroom checks.

Student Attendant

Location: Fort Campus, Elkhorn Campus, South Omaha Campus
Pay: $14.00
Hours: Student workers can work up to 24 hours. Hours may vary by location.

  • Greet and provide quality customer service to students and visitors
  • Be knowledgeable of MCC resources, webpages, and campuses
  • Inform students on college news, events, and initiatives
  • Assist students with administrative needs such as registering for classes, navigating MyWay, finding classrooms/offices on campus, etc.
  • Additional administrative duties as assigned.

Tech Squad

Location: Fort Campus, Elkhorn Campus, South Omaha Campus
Pay: $16.00
Hours: Student workers can work up to 24 hours. Hours may vary by location.

  • Provide customer service and incident support by assisting faculty, staff and students with technology and software use.
  • Troubleshoot problems within desktop, laptop and mobile computing environments.
  • Assist students with Canvas support, mobile devices, and hotspots.
