MCC to host Veterans Day Celebration on Nov. 9

OMAHA, Neb. — Metropolitan Community College will host its Veterans Day Celebration on Thursday, Nov. 9 at 10 a.m. in room 120 of the Center for Advanced Manufacturing on the College’s South Omaha Campus, 2909 Edward Babe Gomez Ave. The celebration will feature keynote speaker Stephenie Conley and a posting of the colors by the Omaha South High School JROTC with a reception following the program.

The Veterans Day Celebration is free and open to the public.

About Stephenie Conley

Stephenie Conley is a decorated veteran who served in the U.S. Air Force from 1990 to 1996. She received the Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal while serving her country during Operation Desert Storm at Headquarters Air Intelligence Agency.
 
Following her military service, Stephenie accompanied her active duty Air Force spouse for the remainder of his career, during which she completed her education, earning an associate degree in liberal arts, bachelor’s in secondary education and master’s in curriculum instruction. For 16 years, she has worked as a high school teacher for Bellevue Public Schools.
 
Additionally, Stephenie has worked as a journalism instructor and student publications adviser and is a nationally certified Master Journalism Educator by the Journalism Education Association. She was selected as the Nebraska High School Press Association Distinguished Adviser in 2021 and is currently the Communicative Arts/Art department chair for Bellevue East High School, which includes journalism, theater, creative writing, pop culture studies, art and forensics (speech).
