The Ellen Freeman Memorial Scholarship was established in 2023 by Ellen’s family and friends. Ellen was a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, specializing in baking, and a former staff member at MCC. She dedicated much of her life to the food service industry through various work experiences and owned her own high-end bakery in Countryside Village for a period of years.
Ellen was committed to MCC students and took pride in seeing their growth and success in the MCC Culinary Arts program.
She had a dynamic personality, a raucous laugh and a caring heart. This scholarship has been established to honor those attributes and assist students in spring boarding forward in their own successes in the field of Culinary Arts.
This renewable scholarship provides funding for tuition, fees, books and student needs as per the syllabus for the Culinary Arts program.
Eligibility criteria:
- Full- or part-time students

- FAFSA recommended. Financial need preferred but will consider both need and no need.
