ABOUT DRONE FLIGHT SCHOOL

Drone Flight School is a comprehensive learning program focused on teaching the fundamentals of safety, maintenance, and technique of piloting a Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) or drones. The program is taught by FAA certificated flight instructors, and is aligned with FAA rules and regulations to fly a drone safely and effectively.

Drone Pilot 1: Safety & Compliance

Contact Hours: 5 Hours

This 5-hour course is for drone enthusiasts, hobbyists, and those seeking to continue onto the FAA Drone Pilot Certification training. Participants learn best practices to successfully fly a drone, including basic rules and regulations, and prepares participants to pass the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) The Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST) certificate. Topics include the main parts of an aerial vehicle, including the body, platform and power supply, computing, actuators, sensors, and software. This course is a prerequisite for all other MCC Drone Flight School courses. The FAA requires all recreational flyers to pass The Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST) certificate to operate a drone for fun or personal enjoyment purposes, and must provide proof of test passage to the FAA or law enforcement upon request. Drone Pilot 2: Flight Training

Contact Hours: 3 Hours

Flying a drone can be intimidating. You may have asked yourself if you are going to crash or how high and how far you can fly or even if you are allowed to fly over people. If so, this course is for you. In this 3-hour course, participants learn the basic flight maneuvers and how to safely control the drone. The hands-on practice includes how to pick a safe area, how to complete a preflight inspection, how to take off, maneuver, and land while flying through an obstacle course.

Prerequisite: Drone Pilot 1: Safety & Compliance or active The Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST) certificate Note: You can bring your own drone or one will be provided for you.

FAA Drone Pilot Certification (Part 107)

Contact Hours: 14 Hours

Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) released regulations requiring anyone flying or operating a small, unmanned aircraft system (drone) under 55 lbs. and for commercial and hobbyist’s purposes is required to be a FAA Certified Remote Pilot. All drone pilots are required to register their drone and to have proof of passing a knowledge test with them any time they fly a drone. This 14-hour course provides the participants with in-depth training on all aspects of the FAA Part 107 knowledge concept rules and regulations needed to safely fly drones.

Prerequisites: Completion of Drone Pilot 1: Safety & Compliance, plus FAA requirements for exam are 16 and older, and be able to read and speak English. Price does not include the license exam fee, which can be purchased through several local testing centers for an additional cost.
