Media alert: More than 400 local high school students will explore trade careers at MCC Construction Career Day

What: Metropolitan Community College will host Construction Career Day tomorrow, bringing more than 400 area high school students to the Fort Omaha Campus to learn about careers in the high-demand field. Students will be able to meet area business representatives and MCC faculty and staff.

When: Friday, Oct. 4 at 9 a.m.

Where: Construction Education Center on the Fort Omaha Campus, 32nd Street and Sorensen Parkway.

Background: Participating high schools include: Arlington, Avenue Scholars, Bellevue East, Bellevue West, Elkhorn South, Millard South, Millard West, Benson, Bryan, Burke, Omaha North, Omaha South, OPS TAC, Platteview and Plattsmouth.

Participating businesses include: Ahern Rentals, Aksarben ARS, Building Crafts, Constructors Inc., Enterprise Properties, Hawkins Construction Company, Keystone Glass, Kiewit Corporation, Lamp Rynearson, Lycos Inc., McCarthy One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning, MCL Construction, Miller Electric Company, National Utility Contractors Association, NMC Caterpillar, Nebraska Masonry Alliance, Plumbers Local 16, PML Construction, Standard Heating and Air Conditioning, Roto Rooter, Thompson Electric Company, Trane, Turner Construction and Valmont Industries. 


Metropolitan Community College, accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, is a comprehensive, public community college that offers affordable, quality education to all residents of Dodge, Douglas, Sarpy and Washington counties. Founded in 1974, MCC has the largest enrollment out of six community colleges in Nebraska and is the second largest post-secondary institution in the state. MCC serves more than 40,000 unique credit and noncredit students.
