MCC Photography instructors’, students’ work to be featured at Blackstone gallery
OMAHA, Neb. — Metropolitan Community College Photography instructors and students’ work will be on display in the exhibit “Hear my Train Callin': A Document of the Contemporary American Hobo,” at the Link Gallery & Workshop, 144 S. 39th St., the Mansion at Blackstone, lower level 1. The opening reception is Friday, Sept. 27 from 5-9 p.m.
For the past two years, Photography instructor and gallery owner Adam Dienst-Scott, along with his students in the Wet Plate Collodion class, were invited to the Annual Hobo Convention in Britt, Iowa to shoot portraits of the “hobo jungle” that gathers every year. The exhibit will feature the portraits on tintype plates, as well as stories and biographies of those photographed. For a recommended donation of $20, visitors will receive a tintype print specially made on the spot from 5-7 p.m.
This exhibit is free and runs through Oct. 20. The gallery’s hours are by appointment only, which can be done via the Link Gallery & Workshop Facebook page.
