Media alert: MCC will host GED graduation ceremony tomorrow

What: Metropolitan Community College will host the GED Commencement Ceremony tomorrow, featuring more than 200 individuals who have received their GED. The keynote speaker will be Naydeny Chuol, GED graduate and current MCC Business student. As a teenager, Chuol sought refuge in the United States from conflict in South Sudan. A single mother of seven children, Chuol will share her inspirational story with those in attendance. The crowd will also hear comments from Lucien Wood, a 2019 GED graduate.

When: Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m.

Where: Swanson Conference Center inside the Institute for the Culinary Arts, Fort Omaha Campus, 32nd Street and Sorensen Parkway.

Background: The GED program is part of MCC Adult Education programming, which provides opportunities for individuals to improve their skills on the path to a high school diploma or post-secondary education. GED classes are offered at locations throughout Omaha. There is no fee for the classes that will prepare individuals to take the official GED test.
